We are seeking a SENIOR MANAGER OF COMMERCIAL PLANNING, PRICING & PROMOTION to join the Orvis Team!  This is a remote position.   

 

This position is responsible for analyzing promotional effectiveness, pricing strategies, and market trends. This role supports the development and tracking of promotional strategies and activities that align with the company’s objectives, driving sales and profitability. This position ensures cross functional teams are aligned to promotional plans including the calendar, merchandise financial plans, marketing support, and buy quantities.

Position Interfaces: 

This position reports to the Senior Director of Planning and works closely with Marketing, Finance, and Merchandising. This is highly collaborative, works across various job functions, and will present to senior leadership.   

 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Pre-Season Forecasting: Assist in forecasting sales impact from pricing changes and promotional initiatives, using statistical methods and historical data. Support preseason commercial plan to ensure optimal buy quantities to support sales.   
  • In Season Analysis: Evaluate the effectiveness of promotional campaigns by analyzing sales data, customer feedback, and market response.  To include elasticity analyses at varying levels of the product hierarchy, and KPI tracking (Promotions, AIR, markdowns, etc.) 
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations on pricing and promotion performance for stakeholders, highlighting insights, KPI tracking, and recommendations. 
  • Pricing Strategy Development: Collaborate with product managers and marketing teams to develop pricing strategies that reflect market conditions and consumer behavior. Develop and maintain “life-of-product” strategy that defines velocity goals to pre-determine when items should be marked down. Plan out markdown periods and gateways for inclusion. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with planning, merchandising, finance, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on pricing strategies, promotional activities, and buy quantities. Support One-Orvis Budget and Reforecasts. Monitor historical performance to recognize high velocity items driven by promotion in our base and plan appropriately to align to current year treatment. 
  • Recommend Bought-for Order-starting Items: Identify high-velocity products with strong margins to leverage in key times to retain, reactivate and acquire customers.  
  • Market Research: Conduct research to understand competitive pricing and promotional tactics, identifying best practices and trends. 
  • Policy Development: Help establish promotion policies and guidelines to maintain consistency and competitiveness across the organization.  

 

Competencies and Requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in pricing analysis, market research, or related fields. 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau)  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
