The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production machinery, mechanical systems, and facility equipment to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and safety. The position plays a key role in minimizing unplanned downtime and extending the life of plant assets.

Position Interface
This position reports directly to the Rod Shop Plant Manager and will interact with other Rod Shop supervisors and associates.
Responsibilities:
· Be an ambassador of the Brand and embody the Orvis Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Culture.
· Execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on machinery, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, epoxy dispensers, and other mechanical/electrical equipment.
· Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or misalignment, and document findings.
· Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic corrective repairs when necessary.
· Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to operations.
· Maintain accurate PM records, work orders, and equipment history logs in the maintenance management system.
· Follow all safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
· Support installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
· Assist in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance processes and reduce downtime.
· Maintain/Organize critical spare parts inventory, order needed parts, and source maintenance parts.
· Provide emergency unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and off-hours.
· Execute facilities projects as needed.
· Maintain a clean, organized workshop that is clean and free of debris.
· Comply with all PPE, OSHA Safety and Health requirements.
· Provide support as required by performing other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance preferred.
· 3+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
· Strong knowledge of bearings, chains, belts, lubrication, pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics.
· Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
· Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Diagnostic Skills – Analyze machines and perform required repairs as needed.
· Experience with various precision gages, measuring tools, and dial calipers.
· Experience with drills, saws, lathes, metal cutters, welding machines, and grinding machines.
· Physical strength to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work and think independently with minimum supervision.
· Motivation to be up to date with innovative skills and techniques.
· Strong oral and written communication skills as well as effective interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational skills.
